Come, Follow Me

May 7, 2025 by Staff

God has guided me with the words “Follow me.” I don’t need to know every step of the way, but instead just need to take one step at a time in His footprints. If I do this, every step will be in the right direction. I’m learning this is a daily following—a daily laying down of my plans for His better plans. Today, God rerouted me for divine intervention.

I was walking towards a friend’s house to practice language when suddenly she messaged telling me not to come. We decided to visit my friend Nuria instead. I met Nuria just over a month ago as she was walking outside her home. I assumed she was Rohingya and greeted her. She immediately asked me to come to her home. We talked, laughed, and video-called her family back in Burma.

Today, when she opened the door, that joy was snuffed out.

I sat down and asked if her family was well. She said, “They all died.“

There was a cyclone that headed straight for Burma and the Rohingya camps in Bangladesh. Since phone lines have been down, many of our friends are unable to contact their loved ones. Nuria began to weep and showed me video after video of the devastation in Burma. Her mom, dad, grandparents, and 4 sisters all died. One 10-year-old sister survived with a head injury. It’s hard to find the right words in English, let alone in Rohingya, to comfort a friend experiencing such pain. I shared the story of Jesus calming the storm, prayed over her, and did a little bit of art therapy.

  • Pray for God’s Shalom (peace) to guard and comfort our Rohingya friends, as the suffering Savior understands pain deeply.
  • Pray for trauma healing for our friends.
